As I am working on the grocery list, I put Maegan on her tummy on the floor with a toy. She is rolling back and forth from tummy to back. To test whether this was purposeful or random, I put her on her back with her toy off to one side out of reach. She saw it, rolled to her front and grabbed it! What fun to see her growing and learning!
Speaking of growing, I have purchased one 9 month sized outfit and decided to skip right to the next size (12 mo?). The 9 month size fits perfectly, so I know it won't fit for much longer! This outfit is a one-piece, though, with feet, so I suppose a 2 piece outfit without feet might be ok in this size. We finally found socks that stay on! Fruit of the Loom Bobby socks are great.
We'll post a picture in a few days--her 5 month birthday is coming up!

Raspberries and Giggles
Over the weekend, Maegan started 'blowing raspberries'. They are very juicy raspberries (lots of spit flying), but oh so cute. And those noises we heard that sounded like laughing really were! The picture shows her in her Exersaucer, which we assembled this weekend. She enjoys grabbing the toys on it and chewing on them.

The Grabber
Sorry it has been awhile since I've written much about Maegan. We have been preparing for the open house we had on Sunday. There were 8 or 9 couples who came through, and another is coming through tonight.
Here's what Maegan's been up to:
When lying down, she lifts her head and neck and tries to sit up. She loves to be held in a sitting position so she can see everything that's going on. (She can't hold herself sitting up yet, though...she slowly slumps over to one side.) Maegan is always looking for something to grab. Anything successfully grabbed goes directly into her mouth. This includes mom and dad's fingers, sleeves, arms, etc. Once she has something in her mouth, she chomps on it with her gums. I bought her a water-filled teething toy, which she seems to like. Her other favorite toy right now is a blue stuffed puppy dog.
Other tidbits:
--She's sleeping 11-12 hours at night--what a blessing!
--She has a cute way of breathing quickly, almost panting, when she's excited or making an effort to reach something.
--We've heard something almost like a laugh a couple of times now!

Four Month Checkup
At her 4 month checkup last week, Maegan weighed 15 pounds, 9 1/2 ounces and was 25 1/4 inches long. I asked the doctor about her VERY frequent messy spit-ups. She was regularly eating 8 oz per feeding, and he advised that at her age, her stomach capacity is only 6 ounces! We immediately adjusted her feedings and have had much less spitting up.
We all had colds for the last couple of weeks, but we're feeling much better now. Maegan not only had a stuffy nose, but her left eye would be stuck shut after every nap. Her clogged tear duct was aggravated by the cold. It cleared up on its own, as soon as the cold went away.
The picture of Maegan in her first dress is from this Sunday. Although mom and dad wore jeans as usual, she wore a dress to church. :) She has a cute white cardigan to go over it, but we couldn't find the right shoes, so she went shoeless with her white tights. (She didn't seem to mind.)
